The origin of the firm Snyder & Company dates back to 1967. In the fall of that year, John Snyder formed a partnership with another accountant and the first Lancaster office was opened in November.

From that time, we have evolved through several phases. In September of 1984, the Lancaster office merged with another Lancaster firm and moved into new facilities at 110 E. Main Street. While with this firm, Susie Freeland and Linda Albright both became partners.

On December 1, 1991, John Snyder and Susie Freeland ventured out to form Snyder, Freeland & Company. Many of the staff with the original firm moved with John and Susie. The firm purchased property and located its office at 415 E. Main Street.

Having outgrown these facilities, in June of 1997 the firm moved to the third floor of the Fairfield Federal Building on the corner of Main and Broad. We added both professional staff and para-professional staff to meet the increasing needs of our growing client base. In 2000, Susie Freeland retired from public accounting and in January, 2001, Linda Sheridan was admitted as a partner and the firm name was changed to Snyder & Company. In a desire to be more accessible and convenient to our clients, John and Linda purchased a building at 129 W. Chestnut Street, Lancaster, and moved the office in December of 2003. This facility offered clients street level access and parking on either the street or at the side of the building, as well as giving the firm a more visible presence in the community.

In continuing our focus on growth, Victor Christopher was admitted as the newest partner in August of 2004.

Since our formation, we have strived to maintain a pleasant atmosphere in which to work and to provide quality and timely services to our clients. Attraction and retention of quality accounting professionals has been an active goal of the partners. Our professional staff is well rounded in all accounting and tax areas, but many have developed specialty niches as well. Victor and Linda will continue to ensure the firm’s growth into the next generation with the same personalized services as it was in 1967 when John first began his practice.
